Southwest Virginia Wine Trail includes AmRhein, Attimo, Blacksnake Mead, Chateau Morrisette, Foggy Ridge Cider, Stanburn Winery and Villa Appalaccia
This wine trail leads you down crooked mountain roads to a group of seven unique Southwest VA wineries. AmRhein Wineries is located off Route 221 near Roanoke VA and offers a wide variety of wines, along with tasting room, and fun events throughout the year. White Barrel is a winery near Christiansburg, VA with onsite kitchen. Blacksnake Mead is located on a truly back country road that leads to a quaint log cabin where the Villars taste their wares including traditional meads and mead brews. Beautiful Chateau Morrisette is located just off the Blue Ridge Parkway at mile market 171. Once you turn onto Winery Rd., you’ll see their parking lot on the right and admire the wonderful mountain views. This is one of the largest wineries in VA and they offer everything from wines, merchandise and souvenirs, food, and many other amenities including their own restaurant. Foggy Ridge Cider is located in Dugspur, VA about one mile from the Meadery. Their unique blend of hand crafted sparkling fine hard ciders is a real treat and should not be missed. Foggy Ridge has known national acclaim and this quaint tasting room and orchard are not to be missed. Bring a picnic. Stanburn Winery is located in beautiful Patrick County. They are in the Piedmont area at the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains. This lovely country farm winery opened in 2010 and but have had vines planted since 1999. Finally, Villa Appalaccia is like turning down a winding road into a Tuscan Villa. Great Italian inspired wines are offered in their tasting room along with complimentary cheeses. Their Olive oil festival is not to be missed and sometimes you can get a wood fired pizza while you play a round of bocce ball.
